Rainbow Yellow Room

In the Rainbow Yellow Room your toddler will be cared for in a safe and educational environment. All teachers in the classroom will provide your child with positive, nuturing interaction so that they can learn to trust, love, feel safe, and secure. Your child will be accepted for who they are; and challenged to meet their next level of development. Your toddler, one year old, will have teachers who will work with you to ensure that your child's needs are met. In addition, the teacher's will be assessing your child's developmental needs. Using that information along with your input, goals will be developed to help your child reach their goals.yellow room

Curriculum: As your child is able they will be introduced to a daily routine. Adjustments will be made as needed to make sure your child's needs are being met such as an extra nap or snack. Throughout the day your child will have the opportunity to participate in short circle times, dancing, singing, reciting finger plays, and story times. In addition, a variety of learning centers will be available for your child to explore. The learning centers include art, dramatic play, sensory (water/sand table and play dough), fine motor (puzzles, peg boards, bead mazes...), gross motor (climbing, riding toys...), blocks, pretend play, books, and outside time (weather permitting).

Communication: In order to provide quality care for your child it is important to have good communication. We will provide you with informatin about your child's day and development. Each day you will be given a daily sheet to inform you about your child's activities, appetite, diapering, and when they need more supplies. You will also be able to view the weekly lesson plan in the hallway outside the room. The teachers will take photographs often for you to view as well. A portfolio of art work, photos, and observations will also be maintained for each child. In the fall and spring partent-teacher conferences will be held to discuss your child's progress and to set new goals.

You are the expert on your child. Therefore, we request that you keep us updated on your child. When you arrive at the center please let us know how your child slept, what their mood is, how their appetite was, and who we should contact if needed. Your child's needs and abilities change constantly. Please keep us informed about these changes so that we can adjust our routines and activities accordingly. Always feel free to call if you have any questions or concerns.

Diapering: Diaper changes are scheduled every two to three hours throughout the day. In addition, if a child has a BM or noticeably soiled diaper they will be changed right away. Unless your child needs a special brand of wipes, we ask that everyone buy Pampers Unscented Wipes to be shared among all children. Generally, potty training starts in the Rainbow Purple Room (two year olds); however, we will work with any child who shows an earlier interest.
